NAM HOUNG 1 HYDROPOWER PLANT

          The Nam Houng 1 Hydropower Project is located on the Nam Houng River in Xayaburi Province, Lao PDR — approximately 12 km southeast of Xayaburi town, upstream from the confluence of the Nam Houng and the Mekong River. The Nam Houng is the principal river flowing through the provincial capital of Xayaburi, making this project central to the region’s energy landscape.
          The project was completed and is currently operating under a concession agreement with the Government of Lao PDR, with electricity supplied to Electricité Du Laos (EDL). In March 2024, Alpha Divisions Public Company Limited (ALPHAX) agreed to acquire Nam Houng 1 Hydropower Limited, with ownership transferred to Alpha Power Development (Laos) Company Limited (APDL), a subsidiary of Alpha Power Development Company Limited. The project is now proudly owned and operated by APDL, further strengthening the company’s expanding portfolio of sustainable hydropower assets across Lao PDR.
